Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is an endoscopic procedure used to remove prostatic tissue. It is recommended for patients with moderate (8-19) to severe (20-35) lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that do not respond to medical treatment, those with refractory urinary retention following at least one unsuccessful catheter removal attempt and cases of chronic urinary retention causing hydronephrosis or renal impairment due to back pressure changes. Additionally, TURP is indicated for complications of benign prostatic hyperplasia, such as recurrent urinary tract infections, persistent gross hematuria, bladder diverticula and bladder stones. This study aims to analyze TURP procedures performed at the Libyan Swiss Center, Masara Clinic, Ghout Shaal Hospital, Libya, involving 260 cases during the period from January 2019 to December 2024.
